The Recording Academy released nominations for the 68th Grammy Awards this morning, as they finalized selections across the award show’s 95 categories. Though music’s biggest night won’t take place until Feb. 1, this year’s nomination list gives music fans plenty to talk about for the time being.
Kendrick Lamar dominated the list with nine nominations, holding the most of any artist for the second year running. The rapper, who walked away with five awards in 2025, looks to win big again with Song of the Year and Record of the Year nominations for “luther (with SZA),” and an Album of the Year nomination for “GNX.”
Lady Gaga has returned in triumph with seven nominations for her album “MAYHEM” — her most Grammy Award nominations to date. She joins Lamar in three of the big four categories, with “MAYHEM” going up for Album of the Year and “Abracadabra” earning nominations for Record of the Year and Song of the Year.
Other artists showing impressively included Bad Bunny and Sabrina Carpenter, both of whom showed out in the big four categories and celebrated big years with “DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS” and “Man’s Best Friend,” respectively. The stars earned six nominations each.
Notable up-and-coming names have made a big splash on the music scene and further cemented their start to stardom with appearances on the nominee list. Best New Artist nominee Leon Thomas earned a whopping six nominations for works from his hit R&B album, “MUTT.” Global girl group KATSEYE grabbed two nominations — one for Best New Artist and another for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance with its song, “Gabriela.”

Every other Best New Artist nominee held that category as their sole nomination. TikTok sensations populated the category, which included former stars of The Hype House, Alex Warren and Addison Rae. Also coming up from huge levels of TikTok fame are Sombr and Lola Young.
The award show has introduced two new categories this year: Best Traditional Country album and Best Album Cover. The country category comes as not many country works showed in the big four categories — a fact that could relate to country star Morgan Wallen choosing not to submit his highly successful album, “I’m The Problem.”
