The 83rd Golden Globe Awards took place on Sunday at 7 p.m. CST and aired live through Paramount+ and CBS.
Comedian Nikki Glaser returned to host for her second consecutive year, delivering a well-received opening monologue with both lighthearted jabs and confrontational references to recent political events. Glaser also landed playful yet biting punchlines on relevant topics ranging from Leonardo DiCaprio’s controversially young dates to the quick popularity of “Heated Rivalry.”
This year, the Golden Globes introduced a new category, Best Podcast, rewarding “Good Hang with Amy Poehler” as its first winner. The show continued with its third year of the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category, handing the win to “Sinners.”
Paul Thomas Anderson’s “One Battle After Another” took the lead with the most nominations, earning wins in four out of nine categories. With the Oscars nominations set to come out on Jan. 22, it’s hard to ignore the momentum this film is already gaining this awards season.
Other big winners include “Adolescence” in the television categories and “Hamnet” in the drama categories. “The Secret Agent” also proves itself to be a competitive contender for future awards, snagging the win in Best Motion Picture (Non-English) against tough opponents and Best Actor (Drama) for Wagner Moura’s performance.

Some have expressed disappointment that the show presented Ludwig Göransson’s win for his work on “Sinners” in the Best Original Score category during an advertisement break. Due to time constraints, this category and his speech were not broadcast anywhere, and can only be seen through recorded clips posted by the Globes’ official account on YouTube. This was the only category cut from the livestream.
The ceremony featured interesting walk-up music picks for some winners, with unexpectedly funny and surprising choices. Typically, award shows queue up simple instrumentals or music from the soundtracks of the winning films or shows. However, some pairings from last night include “Yeah!” by Usher for 74-year-old Swedish Actor Stellan Skarsgård and “24K Magic” by Bruno Mars for the cast of psychological drama/crime show, “Adolescence.”
