Having been in business for 40 years now, the Jane Addams Book Shop has earned itself a comfortable reputation as a literary pillar in the Champaign-Urbana area.
There is no question as to why the bookstore consistently ranks amongst the top of its kind every year. The store offers an estimated 70,000 titles spanning 100 categories, which range from urban African fiction to rare editions of the Bible — all housed in 18 sections across three floors.
This expansive collection fills charming mazes of bookshelves in rooms adorned with well-loved reading nooks, antique light fixtures and cozy artwork. Much of this collection is intertwined with the community, passed on by generations of patrons in exchange for store credit, some of which is given to local charities.
