Since its inception in 1871, The Daily Illini has been committed to providing the University and local communities with up-to-date news regarding all things Champaign-Urbana.
Though printed editions have slowed in recent years from daily to weekly to now monthly, The DI continues to provide online and social media coverage around the clock.
The DI has a unique perspective to share that can’t quite be provided by other news outlets: written by students with a campus-oriented focus, it provides stories relevant to the community with an angle curated for and entangled with University happenings.
With a staff of nearly 300 student reporters, photographers, designers and more, The DI has positioned itself to be a force of journalistic freedom on campus with the ever-important ability to provide students and C-U locals the headlines that matter most.
Good coverage isn’t without fun, though. With a tasteful sprinkling of more light hearted stories like four-wheeled hot dogs visiting the University or a place to study with four-legged friends, readers are sure to find content warranting a hearty smile.
