Whether you’ve pulled an all-nighter studying, socializing or pondering your latest situationship, when the opportunity to nap presents itself, you must take it. What better place to spontaneously slip into sweet oblivion than the Illini Union chairs?
Sandwiched between the Main Quad and the Bardeen Quadrangle, this home away from home lies right at the heart of campus. The Illini Union’s comfortable chairs are the perfect location for a pit stop between classes. Doze off to the smell of Starbucks coffee, the gentle hum of students studying in the Courtyard Café or the sight of orange and blue fish swimming in the North Lounge fish tank.
Since opening its doors in 1941, the Union has been a safe haven for students, staff and visitors alike. Just how many generations of rear-ends have occupied the seats students now snooze in is unclear, but ultimately, an armchair is an armchair. The lovely, burned-out Illini will always take the chance to catch some Zs.
