Home to Illinois Fighting Illini football, the University’s Memorial Stadium is at the heart of Illinois college life. Having celebrated its 100th Anniversary last October, the stadium has maintained a stellar reputation across the Big Ten Conference for its entire existence.
The stadium is named in memory of Illinois students, alumni, faculty and staff who have lost their lives in war. The names of these brave Illini are engraved into towering pillars around the stadium.
Memorial Stadium is a key venue for every student at the University, marking both the beginning and end of their journeys here. It hosts a vibrant welcome event full of school spirit for incoming freshmen at the Sights and Sounds experience and a heartfelt goodbye to all graduating Illini at the commencement ceremony.
With 60,670 seats, Memorial Stadium is the largest sports venue on campus and the center of Illini Pride. The turf features the Block I logo inside an outline of the state of Illinois, and school chants can be heard every game day.
From tailgates at Grange Grove to the final touchdown – Memorial Stadium’s exhilarating atmosphere is the pinnacle of the Illinois experience.
