A bit unassuming from the outside, Black Dog Smoke & Ale House is quite literally a hidden gem tucked away in downtown Champaign.
Upon entering the doors of the brick building, customers are welcomed by the aroma of freshly cooked meats topped with sweet, spicy and tangy barbecue sauces.
Though the organization of the barbecue restaurant’s menu is relatively simple, it provides nine different options for barbecued proteins, ranging from pulled pork to jackfruit to catfish. Furthermore, a selection of 10 barbecue sauces allows each customer to modify their meal to their preferences.
The restaurant also offers a weekly special to add a level of variety, making each visit a little bit different.
With large portion sizes and a variety of classic barbecue sides, Black Dog knows that not every customer can finish their meal before leaving for the evening. With this in mind, the restaurant dedicates an entire page of its website to reheating instructions for each specific menu item.
