A resource used by the Champaign-Urbana community for a multitude of reasons, the 22/220 Illini drops off students at buildings and popular locations around campus. Notable stops include the Illini Union, ISR, Ikenberry Commons, Transit Plaza and the Main Library.
Whether it’s a quick ride to the ARC or leaving students near campus bars for a late night out, the bus plays an important role in transporting students safely around town.
Operating as the 22 Illini on weekday mornings from 6:20 a.m. to 7:20 p.m., the routes’ convenience aids students in traveling from instructional buildings back to their residential halls.
On weekday nights and weekends, the line switches from the 22 Illini to the 220 Illini, driving around campus from 7:20 p.m. to 3 a.m., ending at 5 a.m. on weekends. The late-night hours of the bus can benefit students who need a safe ride home after parties, bar nights and house shows.
What started as just a bus line became a lifeline, carrying students through their daily routines around campus.
