Honk shoo mimimi. Honk shoo mimimi. Zzzghh-w-what? Huh? Sorry, I didn’t realize I nodded off. I was catching a few extra z’s at the undisputed GOAT of nap spots on campus: the Illini Union chairs.
Picture this: You just finished your morning classes and have an extra hour before the next one. Being the academic weapon that you are, you don’t have any work to do, but you don’t want to trek all the way home with such a short window to unwind. Inevitably, you wander into the Union and collapse into one of those big, soft, cushiony leather chairs.
Almost like fate, a pianist starts playing a familiar tune — maybe Beethoven or Bach. Your eyelids begin to droop. You try to fight it, but there’s no use — those late nights have caught up to you. Through the windows, you glimpse the bustling Main Quad while your world slows to a halt.
These chairs won best nap spot for a reason. The next time you’re dozing off in your 8 a.m., do yourself a favor: Stop at the Union and sink into the pillowy void.
