This exhibit of Letritia Kandle, a Hawaiian steel-guitarist, music teacher, creator of the first console Hawaiian guitar, and director of Chicago’s Plectrophonic Orchestra, presents a diversity of documents relevant to the musician. Photographs, correspondence, music, and news clippings that moment her career as a prominent music educator highlight her influence on modern steel guitar performance practice.
Gentler Beginning Yoga

This beginner class introduces you to a gentler yoga practice and the basic concepts of yoga as a spiritual practice. Gentler yoga uses chairs for balance and adapting some poses so that it is more accessible to all and is appropriate for people who are able to get up and down from the floor and want a slower practice.

Lecture by Kevin Mumford on Civil Rights

Kevin Mumford is a professor of African-American History who has marched across the Edmond Pettus Bridge with Dr. King and been lecturing about civil rights for over 30 years. This Tuesday, Mumford is giving a lecture on civil rights movement with his book “Remembering Mississippi Freedom Summer.”
