Blondshell performed at the Bacardi Stage on Thursday at Lollapalooza, pulling a sizable crowd despite the heat.
Sabrina Mae Teitelbaum, better known by her stage name Blondshell, is an indie rock musician based in Los Angeles, California. In 2022, Sabrina debuted her stage name Blondshell with her first single, “Olympus.”
The Daily Illini sat down with Blondshell after her set on Thursday to discuss her feelings about her first Lollapalooza performance.
“It was so much fun,” Blondshell said. “I like playing big festivals like this because I also get to watch other bands, and it just feels really different.” Blondshell said that recently she’s been playing at several different festivals, but each one is different depending on the location.
“I really like Chicago,” she said. “It’s so lit.”

She started her set with “Veronica Mars,” a hit off of her 2022 debut album “Blondshell.” People waved their fans and misted their faces with water as they danced along to the song and shouted out the lyrics.
“Lollapalooza, how’s it going?” Blondshell asked into the crowd, receiving a reply of high-pitched screams. “I’m so happy to be here I cannot even. You guys look amazing. I’m going to play you some new music and old music.”
Blondshell played one of her biggest hits, “Olympus,” as the crowd chanted along with the lyrics. She sang with intensity, her voice resonating into the crowd as the guitar shredded behind her.
“The crowd felt really present, and that always affects how present I am,” Blondshell said in the interview.
Blondshell also played “Docket,” a new single that was released in March, along with a new unreleased song.
“The song that I played is called ‘What’s Fair,’ and that song is coming out soon,” Blondshell said. “I’ve been making an album … this is the first piece of new music that’s coming out in a while.”
Blondshell said that the highlight of her set was “Salad,” a rageful revenge fantasy about malicious men and a search for vengeance, a song that she purposely saved for last.
Her voice shook with defiance as she powered through the melody, encouraging the crowd to sing along to the lyrics.
“See you next time,” Blondshell said into the microphone as “Salad” came to a close, exiting the stage as the crowd continued to cheer.
