“The Fall-Off” – J. Cole
In an Instagram post, J. Cole wrote that “The Fall-Off” is intended to be his final album. The first half of the double album, titled “Disc 29,” tells the story of Cole at age 29 returning to his hometown after experiencing success in New York City. The second half, “Disc 39,” depicts a similar trip home a decade later.
The concept brings his career full circle, referencing his first album from 2007, “The Come Up Mixtape Vol. 1.” Sonically, the album combines introspective storytelling with a broad range of production styles, from stripped-down beats to more contemporary hip-hop arrangements.
“Drive Safe” – Myles Smith, Niall Horan
Myles Smith and Niall Horan team up for “Drive Safe,” an indie-folk pop collaboration that addresses life’s uncertainties and the importance of having support during difficult times. The track possesses acoustic instrumentation at its core, with a bright, guitar-led sound backing up its meaningful lyrics.
“Cloud 9” – Megan Moroney
Megan Moroney released “Cloud 9,” the fourth single and title track from her upcoming album set to drop on Feb. 20. Moroney delivers soft, dreamy country in this song, writing in an Instagram post that the track is made “for the lover girls.” It’s only a snippet of what fans can expect from her album, which highlights Moroney as her most confident self.
