Known for his charming, slightly awkward and real personality, Conan Gray performed a confident and unwavering set on the last evening of Lollapoolza. Bud Light stage was filled with viewers as Gray sang popular hits “Heather” and “Maniac.”
Gray has an extremely wide vocal capacity, and the crowd cheered as they acknowledged this in “Never Ending Song,” the second song of the evening. It came after “Fainted Love” and an audience greeting, where Gray noted he was thankful to be back on stage after five years since playing the festival last.
With cheers from the audience between and during songs, Gray won the hearts of the audience. He earned their engagement and displayed it when they all bounced around in “Killing Me.”
“When I cut you off, we all jump, okay?” He asked the crowd, and they listened.
Later, Gray addressed a viewer in the crowd who held a sign by mentioning he was scared for a Sylvia who, on the sign, was compared to his “Heather.”

“Sylvia, if you’re out there, I’m praying for you,” he said, and the audience giggled.
Audience members reacted highly to both “The Exit” and “People Watching.” They screamed the lyrics out loud when Gray gave up the microphone to them.
After energetic, danceable songs like “Found Heaven” and “Lonely Dancers,” Gray asked permission from the crowd to do an acoustic portion of the set.
“Do y’all mind if I get depressing?” he asked, and subsequently transitioned to “Astronomy.” The crowd applauded in support, and when “Astronomy” was over and “Heather” started playing, the roar only grew. Gray’s most popular song has over one billion streams on spotify.
After another evident crowd-favorite song, “Memories,” played, Gray told attendees he’d be right back. Just a moment or so later, he came back out with a different outfit for “Bourgeoisieses.” Coming out of the change, the audience made noise from exhilaration.
Pink clouds started scattering on the left side of the stage, the sun about to set when Gray started the intro to “Maniac.” Attendees participated in feverish dancing and twirling throughout the field, relishing the moments before his set was over.
“Y’all are crazy,” Gray said. “I appreciate you for being here. I love you; thank you.”
