OSF HealthCare pauses asymptomatic testing
December 28, 2021
OSF HealthCare announced Monday that their facilities for asymptomatic and close contact testing will be paused due to the rise of COVID-19 cases among unvaccinated individuals.
“Right now all across the nation, we’re seeing a huge surge in COVID-19 cases,” said CEO Michael Cruz in a press release. “We are equipped to handle COVID testing for patients who are sick, injured or who are preparing for a procedure but our patient volume is currently so great that we need the public’s cooperation to ensure proper usage of our health care resources.”
Individuals are recommended to use other community testing sites, at home kits or retail pharmacy locations if they need to be tested.
As of Tuesday, there are 2,985 active confirmed COVID-19 cases in Champaign County, according to the Champaign-Urbana Public Health District.
