NEW YORK — Nick Jonas is used to performing in front of screaming fans who know all the words to their favorite Jonas Brothers songs.
Now his new band, Nick Jonas & The Administration, is getting ready to perform

as the house band for the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards on Jan. 15 in Los Angeles. The band will be expected to not only entertain but also keep the pace of the show moving.”I’m excited and honored. … We’ll be performing a lot of covers. Intros and outros to the commercials. I think we have about 25 songs to learn,” Jonas said in a recent interview.
The 17-year-old singer-musician calls his band a side project. They will record an album, Jonas said, but he will continue to record music with his brothers Kevin and Joe of the Jonas Brothers.
Since the awards show will be about movies, Jonas said his favorite film of 2009 was “The Invention of Lying,” which he described as “funny” and “fantastic.”

Alleged Jennifer Garner stalker in custody
SANTA MONICA, Calif. — A man is in custody in California on accusations that he violated a restraining order preventing him from coming within 100 yards of actress Jennifer Garner and her family.

Police say Steven Burky was arrested Monday at the nursery school where Violet Affleck, one of Garner’s two daughters with husband Ben Affleck, is enrolled.
Police say Burky is being held on $150,000 bail at the Santa Monica Jail.
Garner was granted a restraining order against Burky in November 2008 after she told the court she believed he posed a threat to her and her family. Garner alleged that Burky had been stalking her since 2002.
The former star of the television series “Alias,” Garner has also appeared in films such as “Juno” and “The Kingdom.”
Randy Quaid and wife no-show in California court
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — Arrest warrants have been issued for actor Randy Quaid and his wife after they failed to appear for a court hearing, a prosecutor said Tuesday.
The couple didn’t show up in a Santa Barbara criminal court Tuesday on a felony

charge that they defrauded an innkeeper. The no-show will cost the couple $40,000 in forfeited bail.
It was the most recent in a string of court absences that have resulted in arrest warrants and an aborted attempt to extradite the pair from Randy Quaid’s home state of Texas.
Senior Deputy District Attorney Lee Carter said the couple are felony fugitives again and will have to post $40,000 if arrested.
The Quaids’ attorney, Robert Sanger, declined comment on the case.
Randy and Evi Quaid were arrested on Sept. 24 in West Texas after being accused of using an invalid credit card to defraud the San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito of more than $10,000.
Sanger has said the couple paid the bill and had hoped to resolve the case.
Randy Quaid is best-known for supporting roles in films such “Independence Day” and “National Lampoon’s Vacation.” He is the older brother of actor Dennis Quaid.
