NEW YORK — Students at a New York City public school working out to a Beyonce song got a big surprise when the superstar walked in and joined them.
About 85 students at P.S. 161 in Harlem were in the middle of a choreographed routine Tuesday to a song adapted from Beyonce’s hit “Get Me Bodied” when the singer arrived.
The children were participating in a national simulcast of “Let’s Move Flash Workout.” It’s part of first lady Michelle Obama’s fitness campaign.
The singer joined in wearing stiletto heels and a T-shirt emblazoned with “Let’s Move.”

h2. A new offer: ‘Godfather’ prequel being written
NEW YORK — The world has not seen the last of the Corleones.
“The Family Corleone,” an authorized prequel to the late Mario Puzo’s classic “The Godfather,” is scheduled for 2012. Grand Central Publishing announced Wednesday that the novel would be written by Ed Falco, an award-winning author and poet. The book will be set in New York in the 1930s and is based on an unproduced screenplay by Puzo.
Puzo’s novel has sold more than 20 million copies and was the basis for the Oscar-winning movie of the same name. Puzo died in 1999. In recent years, two sequels have been released: “The Godfather’s Return” and “The Godfather’s Revenge,” both by Mark Winegardner.
h2. Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon reveal baby names
NEW YORK — Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon have revealed the names they’ve picked out for their newborn boy and girl: Moroccan and Monroe.
The couple chose to name their son Moroccan Scott Cannon after the Moroccan-inspired decor of the top tier of Carey’s New York City apartment. The so-called Moroccan Room is also where Cannon proposed. They picked the middle name Scott since it’s both Cannon’s middle name as well as his grandmother’s maiden name.
The couple named their daughter Monroe Cannon after Marilyn Monroe, who has inspired Carey.
Unlike her brother, Monroe doesn’t have a middle name because Carey doesn’t have one either.
Carey and Cannon’s twins were delivered Saturday in Los Angeles. The pair got married in 2007 after a whirlwind romance.
