Urbana Food Truck Rallies are back
June 15, 2017
Every last Tuesday of the month until the end of October, gourmet food trucks will gather around outside of the Urbana Civic Center, 108 E. Water St, for Urbana’s Lunchtime Food Truck Rallies.
The series of events, which began on April 25, takes place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on each of the set dates. The next rally will be on June 27, with the following food trucks as participants:
-The Empanadas House
-Chester’s BBQ
-Dragon Fire Pizza

-Fusilli Tony’s
-Caribbean Grill
-The Snack Shack
-Piato To Go
-The Pop Stop
The City of Urbana Community Development Department has been hosting the Food Truck Rally series since 2015, when they sold out after hundreds of people showed up and the trucks had not brought enough food.
“We even had some trucks run out of product on last year’s opening day as well,” said Sterling Bollman, coordinator of the event. “Being a newer event, there was a period of uncertainty for the Food Trucks on how much to actually bring. In the third year now, I believe they are getting the hang of it.”
Furthermore, there will be multiple performers around the area to provide live entertainment. There will be indoor seating available inside of the Civic Center, or people may sit outside with tents or blankets.
“I would like to thank all the people that come out and make this event fun and successful,” Bollman said. “Thank you to the Food Trucks because, without them, we wouldn’t have an event.”
There is no admission fee for this event. To see the lineup each month, visit their website or check out the City of Urbana’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.
