Fight outside bar leads to an arrest
April 20, 2009
A fight at the Champaign bar Chester Street led to an arrest early Monday morning.
The Champaign Police were called to the scene.
“Last night a group of people started arguing in the foyer and after we tried to break them up, they went outside. They continued to fight, 10 to 12 of them, until the police came, who eventually (used mace on) them,” said Kenny Waterbury, Chester Street employee.
One arrest was made and the police issued the person a notice for fighting. It is not uncommon that there were police outside the bar, as the Champaign Police said they have officers located outside of most bars when the establishments close.
