State Rep. Naomi Jakobsson (D-Urbana) is co-sponsoring a bill to eliminate the Illinois Compensation Review Board, a body that recommends whether or not state elected officials should receive salary increases. Right now any salary increase recommendations made by the board go into effect unless the legislature rejects them.
This bill requires increases to be approved in the house and senate and signed into action by the governor.
The bill is waiting to be discussed by the State Government Administration Committee.
