The central Illinois chapter of the American Red Cross is urging people to be cautious as there is the potential for significant severe weather in central, east central and southeast Illinois on Wednesday May 13, according to a press release.
The Red Cross is urging people to create and practice a home tornado plan. The release says to pick a safe room without windows on the lowest floor possible to seek shelter in if necessary. It also warns that people should assemble an emergency preparedness kit with items including first aid supplies, water and foods that do not require cooking or refrigeration.
