A 29-year-old Urbana man died after being struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle late Thursday night, according to an Urbana Police Department press release.

A 29-year-old Urbana man died after being struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle late Thursday night, according to an Urbana Police Department press release.

Urbana police officers were called to the scene at 1000 W. Green Street, Thursday at 1:15 a.m., where bicyclist George Weisiger, 29, was found to have been hit by a pickup truck driven by Urbana resident Herman Wilson, 48.

Weisiger was transfered to Carle Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Wilson was arrested for preliminary charges of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.
