The Champaign Fire Department is inviting members of the public to celebrate National Fire Prevention Week, October 4 through 11.
On saturday, October 3, there will be an Engine Rally with fire trucks. The rally will travel from the 2000 block of South Phlio Rd. to Florida Ave, west on Florida Ave. to Vine St., and then north on Vine to Illinois St. Kids of all ages are invited to enjoy participate and will be able to interact with fire fighters.
On Sunday, October 4, the fire station is hosting an open house from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Downtown Fire Station on 307 S. Randolph St. Families will receive safety information and will have the opportunity to speak with safety leaders — fire, police and EMS departments. Children between the ages of five and nine can participate in an event to be the fire chief for the day.
