Rock’s, a Champaign restaurant located at 25 E. Springfield Avenue, will host a grand re-opening October 31 renamed as Fireside Bar and Grill.
Rock’s owner, Anthony Donato, teamed up with the former owner of Geovanti’s, Eddie Geovanti, for the reopening. Donato is a 2006 University alumnus as well as the president of Donato Financial, a business and property management company.
He said Fireside will represent more of a sit-down restaurant than just a bar, in contrast to Geovanti’s and the current Rock’s, known for their late night food specials and downstairs lounge.
Donato said that the Fireside property has been remodeled, with new paint and reorganization. The reopening will feature a parking lot party adjacent to the building featuring local bands such as Candy Foster at 9 p.m. The new menu will also be revealed. Donato said to expect steaks, authentic pastas and burgers.
Donato said that October 31 will be a good day to open for the restaurant, and draw in customers for Halloween after the Michigan game.

“This is a great way to show everyone we’re open,” Donato said. “Everyone always looks for something to do in Champaign for Halloween, and this will hopefully be the thing to do.”
Donato said he hopes Fireside’s success will continue after the grand opening.
“Ideally it will be a place for university employees and Champaign residents to come in the middle of their day for lunch or dinner,” Donato said.
Fireside will also feature a daily happy hour with half-priced appetizers.
