An emergency rally will be held Tuesday, Jan. 26 at 5:00 p.m. for C-U residents to urge Washington to continue health care reform despite the recent defeat in Massachusetts.

The rally will take place at the Champaign County Veterans Memorial at Broadway and Main in Urbana.

Residents will demand that Senator Durbin fight for the changes Americans voted for and will urge Democrats to quickly pass a strong health care reform bill rather than conform to Republican views after the Massachusetts loss.

The rally is sponsored by MoveOn, the Campaign for Better Health Care, and SEIU Local 73 Chapter 119.

Josephine Underwood of the Campaign for Better Health Care and Ricky Baldwi, a staff representative for SEIU Local 73 Chapter 119, are scheduled to speak.
