The narcotics unit of the Champaign Police Department took one man into custody for possession of heroin at about 3 p.m. Thursday at 503 E. Stoughton St. apartment 5.

Officers with the narcotics unit arrived at the apartment to serve a search warrant at about 2:20 p.m., said Sgt. Dennis Baltzell.

He said the team recovered a quantity of heroin from the first-floor apartment but had not weighed it yet.

The warrant and search were the result of an investigation that had been ongoing for about a month or a month-and-a-half, Baltzell said.

At this time, Baltzell said there are no other suspects.
