The PASS program for medical students opened an extended campus by Market Place Mall in Champaign on Friday.
PASS (Physician Assisted Student Success) was created as a preparatory program for medical students to pass the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE). The program includes individual tutoring in four, six, eight and 12-week sessions for students.
The expansion comes from the need for greater capacity to accommodate for the students coming in each month said Ryan Cannon-Scott, director of marketing.
PASS was originally opened ten years ago at 2302 Moreland Blvd. in Champaign.
“We were previously limited to 100 students at our other location,” said Ryan Cannon-Scott, director of marketing. “At our new location, we can now accommodate 150 students and have the potential for more.”

Scott said the new location was chosen because of its convenience to housing and accessibility to local businesses.
“It’s easily accessible by the students,” Scott said. “The housing we provide is right across the street.”
With close proximity to the mall and local restaurants, Scott said they are bringing in business to the area with 50 to 100 students coming in every month.
“We’re just really excited in our ability to bring business into the area,” Scott said. “We really appreciate the support for the community.”
