As summer approaches, some students are finding it difficult to sublease apartments.
“Every year during summer session one, we see students look for sublets and aren’t advertising,” said Esther Patt, coordinator of the Tenant Union. “Students just give up, but really it lasts until June 15.”
Patt said students go home and cannot find a job. These students will then come back to campus for summer classes and need an apartment.
Some offices such as Roland Realty offer help in finding sub-tenants free of charge with a listing of where tenants can sign up and be contacted when a potential subtenant is found.
Patt suggested that subtenants be careful and review the Tenant Union website or visit the office before signing any contracts.
