Champaign City Council will convene Tuesday night for a study session. Council members will discuss initiatives aimed at improving the relationship between the Champaign Police and the community.
Council member Michael LaDue-District 2, said these initiatives have been discussed since the end of last year. Tonight’s discussion will be a progress report on how these initiatives are being implemented, he added.
Also on the agenda is an update on the negotiations with Comcast Cable. The city has been negotiating a franchise agreement with the cable giant for the past three years, said Thomas Bruno, council member-at- large.
The franchise agreement is set to be renewed this year, and the city is responsible for making sure that the contract includes rules of conduct and customer service policies among other things.
Council members will discuss the negotiations thus far, and should they decide to make changes, the contract will be sent back for more negotiating, said Marci Dodds, Council member- District 4.
