After last week’s hiatus, Champaign City Council will convene Tuesday night for a regular meeting. The meeting will be pretty routine, said Michael LaDue, council member district 2.
There are a combined fifteen bills and resolutions on tonight’s agenda, most of which concern approving services for infrastructure projects around Champaign. There is also a resolution authorizing the city manager to purchase recycling collection carts for the multi-family recycling program that was approved earlier this year.
Also, there is an ordinance amending the annual position control report for the city of Champaign. The position control report outlines the salaries for the different city jobs, said LaDue.
There will also be a public hearing at tonight’s meeting concerning the annexation of a property in Champaign County. The property is located at the Northeast corner of Curtis road and Staley Road. The property is currently part of Champaign County but not part of the city of Champaign.
Developers have proposed that the property become part of the city, where it would benefit from infrastructure assistance, said LaDue.

The property is currently farmland, but the agreement outlines potential development on the property including a Christie Clinic, a hotel, and retail and office space, said Dorothy David, assistant city manager.
County codes are more lax than city codes, LaDue said. He added they would have to make sure the developers would be in compliance with city rules.
The agreement lays out what the development would look like and how it would be phased out among other things, said Lorrie Pearson, the land development manager for the city.
Pearson said the agreement would entitle the property to sanitary sewer service, a service that is only available to properties that are a part of the city or properties that may contract with the city individually.
The discussion concerning the annexation is specifically for the public; city residents are given the opportunity to ask questions about the property and the implications of its addition the city.
The meeting will take place at 7 pm, 102 N. Neil St.
