A 53-year-old female was stabbed multiple times near midnight Tuesday on the 2000 block of South Philo Road, the Urbana Police Department reported at 2:30 a.m.
The woman was allegedly attempting to prevent a 45-year-old female offender, Jacqueline Karen Smith, from robbing an unknown victim. The offender reportedly, then repeatedly stabbed the woman and was later arrested on the 500 block of West University Avenue.
The woman is being charged with attempted murder in the first degree. Bail is set at $75,000, and the court date is scheduled for 9 a.m on Nov. 2 at the Champaign County Court House (101 E. Main St.) in Urbana.
