The CU Citizens for Peace and Justice will hold the Seventh Annual Unity March Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010. The march will begin at noon at 906 W. Vine and then along Bradley Avenue to the Community Garden on Randolph Street.
“This event brings the campus and the community together,” said Brian Dolinar, a member of CU Citizens for Peace and Justice.
Dolinar said that the march is calling for the accountability from the City of Champaign for the death of Kiwane Carrington.
The theme of this years walk is “Sowing the Seeds of Empowerment”.
“Each stop during the walk is symbolic,” said Dolinar.

The walk begins where Carrington was killed exactly one year ago on Oct. 8. And the community garden, where the walk ends, is symbolic for cities and urban communities taking back their communities by growing their own gardens.
Dolinar said they are expecting between 150 and 200 people to participate in the walk.
