Champaign
- Theft of a motor vehicle was reported at the 2300 block of Hackberry Court on Wednesday.
- According to the report, the victim’s vehicle was stolen by the offender, who forged the Secretary of State documents for a new title.
- Aggravated battery was reported at the 700 block of Sixth Street on Sunday.
- According to the report, the victim was battered by an unknown subject. The offender was not located at the time of the report.
- Criminal damage to property and throwing dangerous materials was reported at the 600 block of East Green Street on Tuesday morning.
- According to the report, two suspects from Champaign threw a couch over a balcony and damaged the floor below.
- Aggravated battery was reported on the 700 block of South Sixth Street at The Clybourne on Sunday.
- According to the report, the victim was battered by an unknown suspect. Offender was not located at the time of the report.
Urbana
- Residential burglary and theft of over $300 was reported at the Sigma Nu Fraternity at 1009 W. Pennsylvania Avenue on Nov. 4.
- According to the report, the residents were awakened by sounds of intruders in the house before they fled on foot. A reproduction of the famed “Let Us Have Peace” painting by Leon Gerome Ferris depicting General Ulysses S. Grant and General Robert E. Lee at the Appomattox Courthouse, a reproduction of a painting of President Abraham Lincoln and a rare antique leather book cover entitled “The Civil War Soldier.”
- The paintings and book cover are valued at several thousand dollars.
University
- Two men were arrested for child endangerment after officers pulled over the vehicle they were in and discovered a 3-year-old child and a loaded handgun in the car on Thursday.
- According to the report, officers patrolling near Third Street and Springfield Avenue attempted to pull the vehicle over for driving in the wrong lane.
- The driver did not comply, police said.
- The vehicle eventually was stopped on East Healey Street, where the men were arrested. One offender was arrested for having two outstanding warrants, improper lane usage, driving with a suspended license, fleeing and attempting to elude police, unlawful possession or use of a weapon as a felon and endangering the life or health of a child.
- The other passenger was arrested for unlawful use or possession of a weapon by a felon and endangering the life or health of a child.
