Mayor Gerald Schweighart will accept on behalf of the city of Champaign the Ameren Illinois Act on Energy’s “Most Progressive City Award” on November 15 at 2 p.m. at the Ameren Illinois, Champaign/Urbana Operating Center, 1112 W. Anthony Dr. This is the first time the award has ever been presented.
At the event, Champaign business will be honored for developing exceptionally high levels of energy efficient practices.
Ameren provides electricity and natural gas to millions of homes in central Illinois. It is headquartered in Peoria, IL. Its past projects include the Ameren Illinois Act On Energy Refrigerator Recycling Referrals program.
