The city of Champaign, as one final salute to its 150th anniversary, created a project called “Letters to the Future: 2060.”
The Champaign 150th Executive Committee encourages all residents to write a letter addressing three main points: personal family ties to Champaign, a description of life in Champaign today and a hope or dream for Champaign’s future. The committee will select the top 150 letters that best describe the community and place them in a time capsule.
“We wanted to bridge the past, present, and future together,” said LaEisha Meaderds, 150 Project Manager. “We wanted people to discuss their hopes for tomorrow and where they see Champaign in the future.”
The deadline to submit the letter is Jan. 14, 2011.
