This year’s Holiday Tree Lighting in downtown Champaign will take place Saturday, Dec. 4 at 6:45 p.m. The celebration will host the First Annual Gift Drive.

Gifts can be placed under the tree for Toys for Tots and Shop-With-A-Cop. Shop-With-A-Cop is supported by the Champaign Cops for Kids and Meijer stores.

“For those organizations, and any local charity organization, the need is up and the donations are down so it’s really a good time to donate,” said Lacey Rains Lowe, planner for the Champaign Planning Department.

Champaign’s Holiday Tree Lighting begins at One Main Plaza, One Main St., Champaign, when Santa arrives following the Parade of Lights.
