At the Board of Trustees meeting Thursday, all items were passed, with the exception of two of the proposed student fee increases to the Urbana campus, which were withdrawn from the vote.
The board passed an item that sets guidelines for increasing tuition rates.
“The board hopes to keep tuition flat on an inflation-adjusted basis,” said Chris Kennedy, chairman of the board.
He said the policy will make tuition increases more predictable.
The board also passed a 4 percent increase to residence halls rates, which is a $366 increase for a double room in most residence halls.

While the other student fee increases were passed, the increase to the library/Information Technology (IT) fee and to the academic, faculty and maintenance fee were postponed.
Daniel Soso, student trustee, suggested that the item be tabled, since students were not consulted.
The Illinois Student Senate had passed an executive order at their Wednesday meeting requesting that the board postpone voting on the items until the students had been consulted.
“We’d like to explore their concerns on how the money is being spent,” Kennedy said.
