The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Central Illinois in effect from 3 p.m. Monday until 6 a.m. Tuesday.
Light freezing rain and sleet are expected to continue this afternoon, in light of a stronger storm system that will affect the area Tuesday and Wednesday. Ice accumulations of less than a quarter inch are possible Monday and one quarter to a half inch accumulation on Tuesday.
A Winter Storm Watch will be in effect from Tuesday morning until Wednesday afternoon.
Heavy snowfall is expected in Central Illinois Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday.
A mix of snow, sleet and rain will overspread Central Illinois from West to East Tuesday morning, causing travel problems. Conditions are also expected with this system Tuesday through Wednesday, creating significant blowing and drifting of the snow. Northeast winds of 25 to 30 miles per hour with gusts to 35 miles per hour will occur Tuesday afternoon and Tuesday night.

Snow accumulations of 12 to 20 inches are possible Tuesday.
