As of 4:15 p.m. 106 people across Champaign County are still reporting power losses after Tuesday’s storm, according to Ameren Illinois’ website. Ameren serves over 85,000 Champaign County residents with electricity.
Ameren, the primary electric company for Central Illinois, reported 1300 field personnel responding to power outages and storm damages Tuesday. While power was restored to many after last night’s snow, some are reporting new outages.
Anyone who is still experiencing a loss of power should call meren’s outage center at 800-755-5000.

The Champaign County Emergency Management Agency is encouraging residents to store enough non-perishable foods for the next three days as the storm is anticipated to worsen into Wednesday.

Batteries in flashlights, portable radios, carbon monoxide detectors and smoke alarms should be checked, and travel is not advised.
The American Red Cross has opened a shelter at the Pennsylvania Avenue Baptist Church, 600 E. Pennsylvania in Urbana, for all residents who are unable to get home because of road conditions or for all residents who have lost power. Food, sleeping accommodations, activities for children and Red Cross assistance will be provided free of charge.
