According to a press release, officers received a call at approximately 7 a.m. on Friday from the City of Champaign Building, 102 N. Neil Street.

A City of Champaign employee found an abandoned brown paper bag near the main entrance upon arriving to work. The Champaign Police and the University’s Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) Unit were dispatched to the scene. EOD recommended that all employees remain in the building and away from the area where the bag was located.

Officers reported the package safe after approximately two hours. The package contained various food items.
