The Champaign Police Department is searching for a suspect and two possible witnesses associated with an incident of sexual assault that occurred in the early morning hours of Sunday, Feb. 13 around 1 a.m. near the U of I campus.
The victim, a 20-year-old female, left Kam’s near the 600 block of East Daniel Street, and began walking alone to a friend’s house when two males approached her and forced her into an alley where one of the males sexually assaulted her, according to a press release.
The victim is an Illinois Wesleyan University student who was in Champaign to visit a friend.
The first suspect is described as a black male, 6 feet tall, thin build and around 25-30 years old. The second suspect is described as a black male, 5 feet 8 inches tall and around 25-30 years old. Both were wearing black coats.
During the attack, two witnesses – a white female and a white male – approached and the suspects fled the area. The witnesses then drove the victim to a safe location.

Champaign Police are asking that the witnesses contact officials to be interviewed.
Champaign Police are also reminding students to stay alert, drink responsibly and walk in groups at night.
