Nicholas Staples of Champaign was arrested in conjunction with the Oct. 8 robbery of First Midwest Bank in Champaign.
Police arrested Staples Feb. 25 after the Illinois State Police Crime Lab reported that evidence linked Staples to the scene of the crime.
On Oct. 8, Champaign Police Officers were called in after a report of a man entering First Midwest Bank and handing the teller a note demanding money. The suspect implied having a gun, but, according to witnesses, the suspect never displayed a gun. The suspect left the bank with an undisclosed amount of money and was last seen walking north on Prospect Avenue.
