Mia Za’s owner Bruce Hink said that at least three break-ins have occurred during the two weeks since the Green Street fire.
The most recent burglarly was reported Tuesday—an unknown offender was reported breaking into Pitaya at 625 E. Green St. around 4:40pm. A break-in was reported at Mia Za’s, 629 E Green St., at 9 p.m. Monday.
According to the police report, the burglar at Pitaya stole currency and a mini-radio. Mia Za’s is reporting a stolen flashlight and four damaged knives, according to that report.
Hink also said that the offender stole Apple computer accessories valued at $400 to $500 and also destroyed the cash register, though there was no money stored in it.
He said that there have been additional precautions taken since the break-ins.

“(The burglars) were jimmying the door so we made it more secure,” he said. Hink did not want to reveal the exact precautions to maintain the security of the location.
“It’s just one of those things,” Hink said. “Once they figured out they could get in they got bolder.”
Hink says that all valuable property has been cleared out of his business.
