The Special House Committee on Redistricting will be meeting at Parkland College this Saturday at 1 p.m. in order to collect input from community members for the congressional and state re-mapping process, according to a press release.
State Representative Naomi Jakobsson and Redistricting Committee Member State Representative Karen Yarbrough will be hosting this public hearing, which is one of the 15 statewide hearings that the Illinois House of Representatives will host to gather suggestions from various groups about the 2011 legislative boundaries, according to the press release.
Also in the press release, amongst the groups invited to provide suggestions are civic groups, community organizations, elected officials, minority groups, and organizations serving the disabled and senior citizens.
According to the press release, Laurel Prussing, Mayor of Urbana, Don Gerard, Champaign Mayor Elect, and members of the Champaign County Board are some of the people scheduled to testify during this hearing.
