Jakobsson bill would make it more difficult for legislatures to receive pay increases

State Rep. Naomi Jakobsson (D-Urbana) is co-sponsoring a bill to eliminate the Illinois Compensation Review Board, a body that recommends whether or not state elected officials should receive salary increases. Right now any salary increase recommendations made by the board go into effect unless the legislature rejects them.

MTD to hold public hearing, address concerns Thursday

Two hearings will be held tomorrow to review proposed improvements to the Fall 2009 MTD service, according to a press release. The first will be held at UI College of Law, 504 East Pennsylvania Avenue, Champaign, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the other at the Illini Union,1401 W. Green St., Urbana, in room 404 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
