The Champaign City Council convened Tuesday evening for a study session to discuss a Champaign Center partnership and a proposed tax levy.

After a year of difficulty in selling the Lincoln Hotel property, Marine Bank Springfield and the city of Urbana found an interested buyer who will support landmark designation.

Negotiation began with the City of Urbana and theMarine Bank of Springfield, property owner of the former Historic Lincoln Hotel, 209 S. Broadway Ave., to come to an agreement on the acquisition and renovation of the hotel. This follows after Xiao Jin Yuan, local business owner, expressed interest in February.
