The City of Champaign and the family of Kiwane Carrington, a 15-year-old boy who was killed last year during an altercation with Champaign police, have reached a potential settlement agreement in the case.

Officers in the Champaign Police Department's Community Action Team, or CAT, arrested a 19-year-old man on Sunday at the 500 block of East Green Street for mob action and aggravated battery.

The University Department of Facilities and Services participated in a mock emergency oil spill exercise this morning. According to the Facilities and Services website, the oil spill exercise involved Champaign and Urbana fire departments, county emergency staff, public safety and environmental contractors for the Annual Joint Deployment Exercise.
