Housing authority meeting

The Housing Authority of Champaign County board of commissioners is meeting Thursday at 3 p.m. at the HACC Administration Building, 205 W. Park Ave.

On the meeting’s agenda is the approval of efficiency, one, two, three, four, five and six bedroom payment standards for the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program and the approval to negotiate and execute documents related to the redevelopment of Lakeside Terrace, among other things. In closed session the board will discuss litigation, employment and other matters.

The Illinois government has raised $750,000 from online auctions of computers, retro office furniture and antiques, among other things on their Web site, www.ibid.illinois.gov, according to a press release from the Illinois Department of Central Management.

The site opened in August 2003 and has sold more than 3,400 items, including a helicopter and a Zamboni, according to the release.

Items currently for sale include knives, a camera, exercise equipment and tools.

Jakobsson announces legislation

State Reps. Naomi Jakobsson (D-103) and Bob Flider (D-Mt. Zion) announced in a press conference Monday afternoon that they will co-sponsor legislation that aims to allow electricity to be sold by energy generating companies through an auction process, according to a press release from the Illinois House of Representatives.

Both representatives hope the legislation will stop price hikes in electricity prices, which could spike as much as 35 percent, according to the release.
