Champaign City Council

The council made short work of its agenda Tuesday, breezing through a township meeting and passing 16 bills in 25 minutes.

The Council did not debate a single item, and every bill passed 9-0 except for two: a change to the backyard requirements for townhomes that passed 7-2 and another bill that passed 8-0 when Councilman Tom Bruno left the room.

The council passed Phase III of the Campus Area Transportation Study. The item had already passed a preliminary poll in a council study session, and, as expected, passed unanimously in Tuesday’s regular meeting.

The rest of the agenda included a resolution changing the name of the city’s Firemen’s Pension Board to the “Firefighters'” Pension Board, another entering into a contract for elevator maintenance and a bill to purchase four used cars.
