Facebook gives friends and strangers the opportunity to playfully creep on each other, but when does the creeping become much too creepy? The changes which took effect yesterday allow users to see every detailed change of their friends accounts. Sophomore in Biology J.P. Corels says he doesn’t want everyone to know exactly what he’s doing at every moment.
“It’s stalker to the extreme. It tells you everything you need to know about anyone, all of their changes, it’s… it’s just weird. It talks about everyone’s reationship, like people you didn’t even talk to for the last year, you look at your home page and there it is. This person’s relationship is over, now they’ve moved into an open relationship to it’s complicated… It’s a little too much information, I think.”
Students across the country have responded strongly against the new features on Facebook, with over 500 groups formed yesterday alone protesting the changes. The verdict, we’ve creeped, ever so slightly, over the line.
