Comic book adaptation of 9/11 Commission Report raises some concerns
September 12, 2006
Five years after the attacks on the World Trade Center, Americans can now read about 9-11 in a comic book. “The 9-11 Report: A Graphic Adaptation” is based on the government commission report that was released two years ago. Founder of The Lone Lantern Society of America Gary Franchi aims at uncovering the truth about 9-11 for the public. Franchi says that this new comic book would be giving people information that he believes is false.
“As far as I’m concerned, that’s only going to be perpetuating the lie that the 9-11 Comission is. A lot of people aren’t going to pick up a 700-plus-page book, but people may be more likely to pick up a comic book.”
The beginning of the book features an 18-page timeline showing what was happening on each of the four hijacked planes. Franchi says that as long as a comic book about 9-11 is factual, he thinks selling it would be fine.
“A comic book on 9-11 is fine, as long as the information is correct. If you’re going to sell a book, and it’s based on truth and facts, I’m all for it.”
“The 9-11 Report: A Graphic Adaptation” is currently on Barnes and Noble’s Top Ten Bestsellers List.
